Review of 2001 AFNR Knowledge and Skills Spring 2007 Process started with review of AFNR Knowledge & Skills Statements developed in 2001 Technical Experts from Government, Education, and Industry Reviewers nominated by State Staff

Ag Ed Review Fall 2007 Standards reviewed by 230 ag educators Included secondary and post-secondary educators Reviewers nominated by State Staff representatives from 39 states

Ag Industry Validation Summer 2008 Process to ensure standards meet industry needs All pathways reviewed by subject matter experts Reviewers nominated by State Staff, FFA, and Industry 130 reviewers representing 32 states

Academic Cross Walk Summer 2008 Alignment of Ag Standards to National Academic Standards One team in each academic area: math-science-communications-social studies Teams comprised of ag and academic teachers Agreement of 75% of team for alignments to be deemed valid

THANKS! Teacher participation in review process was key to valid set of standards. First time Ag Ed has a set of national standards on which curriculum can be based.
