5. Clean Water Challenge It is important as scientists and engineers that we are continuously searching for new and better ways to make the world a safe place to live for ALL people. Part of the world is depleted of safe drinking water and it is our job to be caring and empathetic, putting ourselves in other people’s shoes. How would you feel if you had to search for clean water every day? What would you do? Now is the time to put a plan into action to help people with unclean drinking water to find a way to have safe drinking water. Challenge: Design an invention that would change dirty water into fresh, drinkable water. Draw a blueprint, make a working prototype, and write an argumentative essay persuading a manufacturer to mass produce and market your invention.

Prototype- evidence that your invention will work Persuasive Essay: Base your paper off of scientific research Claim for Essay- There are groups of people in the world suffering from clean water depletion. This invention would make clean water available for those areas of the world that are lacking.

13. Clean water and sanitation for all- $9 billion; Americans spend that much the day after Thanksgiving shopping for Christmas presents.

18. What is Our Goal? Our goal is to raise $1000 between the five STEM classes to give 1,000 people in Africa clean water. If we reach our goal of $1000, the student that raises the most money from each mini-school gets to throw 1000 calories worth of whipped cream pie in their STEM teacher’s face. The class that raises the most money gets bragging rights and will be spotlighted on morning announcements.
