Consequences of Imperialism and trade between China and Britain -Indonesia < Dutch >farmers were required to produce 1/5 of the export crop -Vietnam < French >since more rice were being exported than being eaten in Vietnam, people faced starvation French culture was imposed Generally in the southeast Asia >millions of people were to work on plantations or mines >different religions or skin color often led to racial or religious clashes China & Britain >Britain snuck opium and traded illegally >China tried to stop the illegal trade >Britain fought China and received Hong Kong and a free trade after their victory >poor were unhappy that the foreigners were getting privileges so they attacked foreigners and lost >loss of Chinese lives India < Britain >had power over India >imposed taxes >took land >instituted reforms >later, India rebelled and lost >therefore Britain took COMPLETE control over India
