2  Definition:  When something concrete (such as a person, place, thing, or event) represents something abstract (like an idea, emotion, or quality)

3  Engagement ring =  Marriage, love, fidelity, etc.  Crown =  Royalty, power, wealth  Flag =  Patriotism, pride, liberty  Skull and crossbones =  Danger, death, piracy  Come up with two examples of your own!
