The Delta Works The Delta works is a construction that was built between 1950 and 1997 in the southwest of the Netherlands to protect a large area of land from the sea. The works has dams, sluices, locks, dikes and storm surge barriers. This building is located in the Dutch area( or more specifically,Rhino-Meuse Delta). This building protects floods. Now the Dutch government agrees that it is the worlds largest flood protection project. It became a wonder when the American Society of Civil Engineers has declared the works to become one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World.

FACTS It is one of the seven wonders of the modern world. It is located in the Dutch area (Netherlands, Europe). It controls the floods for the Dutch. It was built there because of this cause. It stretches 1.75 miles across the three channels of he Easter Schelde. The dam consist of several strings of gates and their massive supporting piers which,in normal weather, allow tidal seawater to ebb and flow in the eastern estuary, thus benefiting the fish and bird life and local fisheries. It is also known as the North Sea Protection Works.

My Opinion I think that the Delta Works is a very special place because it is a real lifesaver. It helped people a lot. It controls the floods in the Dutch area, so now there arent many severe floods there. If it wasnt built it would have been a disaster by now. As I said, it is a lifesaver. Go Delta Works!
