DRAFT 3 rd Grade Criteria 3 rd grade is a mandatory retention year. This is Florida State law. Students must pass the Florida State Assessment (FSA) in Reading in order to be promoted to 4 th Grade Students will also take the FSA in math but it will not count towards promotion. Be prepared! 3 rd grade is a BIG transition from 2 nd grade!

DRAFT Positive Behavior Plan Students who are on-task, helpful, and paying attention will earn $5.00 (class money). At the end of the week, students will be able to shop in our classroom store. Students who are off-task will be asked to move their clip. They will not earn $5.00 for the day. If the student continues to make poor choices the student will have to sit in the quiet corner until he/she is ready to return. The student will also fill out a reflection sheet as to why they acted the way they did. They will stay there until they are caught up, making good choices, etc. then they return to their seat. If you need to discuss your child in particular, you can schedule a conference with me at aposs@somersetboca.com

DRAFT Agenda Each student has an agenda to write their homework assignments in every morning. Checking to ensure that homework assignments are complete and signing the agenda is the best way to maintain an active and open line of communication to aid in your child’s success. Every morning the agenda will be checked to make sure that homework has been copied down correctly. Homework assignments can also be found on the class website: www.somersetboca.com

DRAFT Grading Policies/Homework Each third grade student will have an average of 45 minutes of homework per night. Weighting grades is school policy. Grading Classwork- 35% Homework-10%** Tests-50% Participation-5% **Homework is graded based on completion**

DRAFT School’s Curriculum The New Florida Standards form the framework of the Language Arts and math curriculum. Each subject involves whole group, partner, and small group activities. Reading logs are checked on Fridays and must be signed by a parent. Summaries must also be complete nightly in order to receive full credit.

DRAFT Homework 4 Spelling Activities are also due on Fridays (tomorrow). They should be stapled and turned in (yellow folder). Math workbook pages are assigned daily in order to keep pace with the curriculum. Students will keep their practice workbook in their backpacks at all times. They will tear out the page when they are ready to turn it in.

DRAFT Engrade Students grades will be posted weekly on Engrade. Please check grades to stay updated with your child’s progress. Remember: if you see a low score it is only one grade that is part of an average. If I have any concerns with your child’s progress, you will be contacted.
