Introduction PowerPoint is a Presentation graphics program that produces dynamic slide shows containing text, graphics, and charts. You can use PowerPoint for informal and formal presentations, meetings, class projects and for presentations on the internet. PowerPoint includes a wide variety of tools and features for selecting fonts, styles and colors

Exploring PowerPoint Auto Layout: This is a pre-designed style in which you can choose how to present your presentation. Drawing Toolbar: Allows you to draw shapes, lines, squares and circles. Adding A New Slide: You can add a new slide by clicking on an auto layout or under “Common Tasks”, then click on New Slide. Design Template: You can choose to have a predetermined background by selecting any one of the templates offered.
5
Basic Presentation Skills Create a new presentation when you start PowerPoint or while your presentation is already opened. Create a blank presentation, use a Design Template, or choose a slide from auto layout. You can change the Design Template without harming your current presentation. Enter text into your presentation by inserting a Text box. The Text Box is located on the drawing toolbar.
6
Continued… Add a new slide by using auto layout or by clicking on Common Tasks, new slide. Navigate through slides by using the vertical scroll bar located on your right side of the screen. Switch views on your screen by clicking on the view of your choice located on the left, bottom side of your screen. Make your work easier to read by changing the magnification of your screen. This is located on your standard toolbar up on top of your screen.
7
Using Graphic Images You can use the Clip Art Gallery to enhance your presentation. The Clip Art box is located on the drawing toolbar and gives you a variety of art to choose from. You can also add your own clip art or pictures from your files. Clip Art can be added to any slide or use the Text & Clip Art or Clip Art & Text auto layout.
8
Continued… Once a clip is inserted, you can resize it, change its color and shape. Once you insert a picture from a file you can also alter it to suit your needs. You can move your pictures around, cut them, rotate and resize them.
9
Printing, Sending & Publishing PowerPoint Presentations may be printed out. You can choose to print in color or in black and white. Print only slides, Outlines speaker notes or handouts. Printing out slides can be useful to students as notes. To select the type of slide lay out, click on File, print and then select from the “print what” box, which slide lay out you would like to print.
10
Continued… You can send an entire presentation via email. This is good when you want to check a students work before the final presentation, or even for yourself. When you email your presentation, make sure you email it in a attachment form in a.ppt file. This is the default saving setting for a file in PowerPoint. Or if you would like to only email one slide you have that option.
