What we do today: 1.Check Vocab Part 2 2.Read chapter 19 3.Review Chapter 19, Page 124 4.Artwork: Visualize “Do I Dare Disturb the Universe.” 5.Half-way letter to our author (even though he is dead). 6.Start reading 20 – 23 7.Learning Target: 8.Use basic artwork to help the student visualize the symbolic importance of the poster in Jerry’s locker. 9.Using correct letter format, express reader’s thoughts to the author.

Go to Page 128 - 129: “Do I Dare Disturb the Universe?” Working alone and interpreting alone, create the poster that the reader is presented with on page 128 - 129. Assignment for Friday, May 16. Create your own poster. It must accomplish the following: 1.Original artwork to the best of your ability. 2.The artwork reflects you. 3.One appropriate literary or lyrical (song) quote that reflects you. 4.A 5 - 10 sentence paragraph discussing your art and why you chose the quote that you did. 5.Because we will display the posters in the classroom, please don’t make your poster too personal.

Letter to the Author (10 Minutes) Letter: 1. Write a letter to the reading Questions handout. Tell him what you like and dislike about the story so far and his writing. Give Cormier specific reasons and examples from the story to support what you say. Be sure that your letter is in the correct format.

When Finished: Catch up on reading questions for chapters 1 – 19. Vocabulary for section 1 and 2 should be complete.
