Mark chooses 4 PARABLES to showcase Jesus’ teaching method: the Parable of the Sower; a Lamp on a Stand; the Parable of the Growing Seed; and the Parable of the Mustard Seed. Taken together, all four parables hand picked by Mark, they tell their own little story: READ MARK 4:3-20 NO CHANCE (v. 15) NO ROOT (v. 17) NO FRUIT (v. 19) NO LIMITS (v. 20) The Good News Gospel will have a wide-ranging effect on people who hear it…from total rejection to total acceptance. Only one response is good: OUTRAGEOUS FRUITFULNESS. READ MARK 4:21-25 THE Good News Gospel must be shared. To hide it, keep it private is to risk losing it-to shine it out is to invite INCREASING LUMINOSITY. READ MARK 4:26-29 The Good News Gospel is a process of partnership between us and God. As people, we “scatter” the message, but God causes faith, and growth and is responsible for the eventual harvest. DIVINE PARTNERSHIP. READ MARK 4:30-34 The Good News Gospel must have a noticeable impact in the area in which it takes root. From the smallest beginnings, it must grow and touch everything around it. BIG CHURCH.
