The Basics ■ Official dates: October 19-30 ■ Takes place during school day ■ Seniors complete at least one application ■ Focuses on first-generation, low-income students ■ Flexible to meet your school’s needs ■ Low-cost/no-cost

History ■ American College Application Campaign started in 2005 in North Carolina − By 2014 was in all 50 states − Sponsored by American Council on Education ■ Nebraska held a pilot campaign last year with six high schools − 668 students completed 1,094 applications to 71 colleges ■ EducationQuest sponsors the Nebraska effort with help from a steering committee

Why It’s Important ■ First official step in the college enrollment process ■ Reduces barriers to the application process ■ May increase your school’s college-going culture and rate ‒Especially for underrepresented students
