Goals To establish how iPads are currently being used to support students. To create a list of apps to share. To introduce and practice using a new app: PaperPort Notes

Norms Please keep side conversations to a minimum Write questions down on sticky notes to be answered later Step out as needed

Where we are How comfortable are you with using an iPad? Place your post-it note on the line of tape with 0 being not at all and 10 being very comfortable.

What we do. GradeiPad Uses with an Individual Student iPad Uses with Groups of Students K-2 3-5 6-8 9-12 In groups, create and fill out this chart with as many examples as you can.

What we know Share which apps you use the most, and which apps you would most like to have. Create these two lists on the chart paper at your table.

Gallery Walk Each group will start at their own list and then rotate, until all the lists have been seen. Us the post-its to leave comments or make notes.

Installing Paperport Notes Check the apps on the iPad for PaperPort Notes – it may already be installed If it is not loaded already, download PaperPort Notes Log into your iPad, and tap the app store icon This is a free app, so you can tap to download it if it is not already on your iPad

Taking Notes: New You can start with a blank set of notes. Open PaperPort Notes Make sure the Sidebar is pulled out Tap the “New Note Set” in the lower left corner.

Taking Notes: in a Document PowerPoint slides and/or PDF files can be imported to PaperPort Notes. Click “Import” at the bottom of the sidebar select the source Select where the file is coming from and tap on the file link to insert it into the file. http://cmcssesl.wikispaces.com /home

Inserting a Picture into Notes Pull out the side bar and tap insert. Select File or snapshot from the web. Go to http://Wida.us and Find the WIDA logo.http://Wida.us Tap “WebSnap” and then select the log. Tap “capture” to insert it into your document.

Inserting a Document into Notes Pull out the side bar and tap insert. Select File or snapshot from the web. Go to http://Wida.us and click on Standardshttp://Wida.us Select Can Do descriptors Use the PDF link on the right to download the document.

Close Reading Once you have imported the Can Do descriptors for your grade level, start close reading the text Text Based Question: Find one descriptor in each domain (speaking, listening, reading, writing) and think of a way to use an iPad with student to create a lesson or a practice with that descriptor. When complete, tap share in the bottom of the side bar, then share all pages, then tap email. Send them to carolyn.miller.tn@gmail.com
