3 GCLE and EGLCE  GLCE- III.2.h.1 Classify major groups of organisms to the kingdom level.  EGLCE – L.OR.P.EB.III.2h.1a Identify plants and animals.  Key concepts: Flowers, trees, farm animals, and wild animals.

4 Test items  Test item #1: Students will be shown one animal and plant picture/symbol, and will be given the task direction “Show me the ________ (e.g., animal or plant)”, and the student will select the picture/symbol.  Test item #2: When shown 2 picture/symbols (e.g., 1 wild animal, 1 tree), a 2 column graphic organizer labeled wild animals, farm animals, flowers or trees, and asked “Where does the _______ (e.g., tiger) go?, the student will respond or move each picture/symbol to the correct category.  Test item #3: When shown 1/5 authentic group pictures of the outdoors, each picture containing 2/10 from the following categories flower, tree, wild animal, and farm animal. When asked “Show me the ___.” (e.g., deer), the student will select the animal or plant found in the authentic picture.

5 Meet my students  Student 1: Kevin  Chronological age: Kevin is 18 years old.  IQ score: Has an IQ score of 25  Education Diagnosis : Severely Multiply Impaired: R340.1748  Physical Characteristics: Kevin is restricted to a wheelchair, and has to be lifted to do any activities out of a wheelchair (e.g go to the bathroom, take a shower). When standing (which he can not do independently) Kevin has cerebral palsy, which is why he is bound to a wheelchair. Medication Kevin takes include; folic acid, and Diazepam.Diazepam

6 Meet my students  Student 2: Amanda  Chronological age: Amanda is 18 years old.  IQ score: Has an IQ score of 25.  Education Diagnosis : Severely Multiply Impaired: R340.1748  Physical Characteristics: Amanda is not bound to a wheelchair, but crouches down when sitting. She is extremely small, and looks fragile. She gives off expressions on a regular basis, she will smile, frown, and so on. Standing up straight she would come up to a little below five feet. Amanda is epileptic and has seizures on daily basis medication that she takes are Topamax and Lorazepam.

7 Meet my students  Student 3: Shelby  Chronological age: Shelby is 18 years old.  IQ score: Shelby has an IQ score of 25.  Educational Diagnosis: Severely Multiply Impaired: R340.1748  Physical characteristics: Shelby is bound to a wheelchair, and when standing she reaches about 5”3. She has long blonde hair, and very rarely gives expressions. When talking to Shelby she on very slim occasions makes eye contact, and always tends to look in the opposite direction of the speaker. Shelby has cerebral palsy and has issues with her vision she takes medication like folic acid, and Diazepam. For her vision she wears corrective lensesDiazepam

8 General procedure  Teacher approaches student for 1:1 instruction  Teacher shows student the book and tells student what they will be learning “today we are going to be learning about plants and animals”  Teacher will go through each page by reading out loud and showing how to interact.  Teacher will allow students to interact with each page
