AGENCY PURPOSES AND TYPES n Services range from simple to complex. n Purposes of agencies –Health promotion n Physical and mental health are included. n The goal is to reduce the risk of illness. n teaching and counseling about healthy living. n signs and symptoms of illness are learned. n learn how to manage and cope with their diseases

11. ORGANIZATION -An agency has a governing body called the board of trustees which makes policies following local, state, and federal standard -An administrator manages the agency -Directors or department heads manage certain areas

12. ORGANIZATION n The health team (the interdisciplinary health care team) – involves staff members who work together to provide health care. –The team’s skills and knowledge focus on the person’s total care. –The goal is to provide quality care. –The person is the focus of care.

13. ORGANIZATION n Nursing service –a large department. –The director of nursing (DON) is an RN. –Vice president of nursing and vice president of patient services are other titles. –The DON is responsible for the entire nursing staff and the care given.

14. ORGANIZATION- Nursing Service n Nurse managers (RNs) n -assist the DON. n -responsible for A work shift or nursing area and all nursing care and the actions of nursing staff in their areas
