 CASE PREPARATION FOR INTERVIEW* Dear Applicant, In order to help you in the refugee sponsorship process, ORAT – Office for Refugees at the Archdiocese of Toronto in Canada compiled this guide for your upcoming interview at the Canadian embassy (or high commission; visa post). 1. Do submit to the embassy and copy to ORAT every evidence as soon as possible before the interview, proof and document that can be important about: your refugee story (even if you have just news, or new development); potential persecution in the future; fate of persons in similar situation like you (for example relatives who were recognized as refugees anywhere); SAMPLE Slide 7 of 22

9 UPDATE REQUEST CPOW UPDATE TYPE 1 More than 6 months has passed since the resettlement application has been submitted to CPOW; and Acknowledgement Letter (AOR) and system generated with G number were not received. 2 The application has been submitted to CPOW more than 6 months ago and E-CAS (online) file is not available. UPDATE TYPE 1 Time has passed the visa office’s processing time as it is indicated on or by CIC letter. 2 3 months have passed since the interview (or since the second benchmark letter) and no travel arrangement has been made. 3 Other issue that requires update/ change in: contact information (address, , phone number) family composition; correction in spelling of name, DOB other Slide 10 of 22

WITHDRAWAL: In order for ORAT to withdraw an application please fill and attach the Withdrawal form from the Retainer Agreement. 2 ADD DEPENDANT: In order for ORAT to agree on adding an additional dependant family member please submit new applications with all IMM forms. 3 ONE YEAR WINDOW (OYW): If you wish to request the processing of your family members, please fill in IMM5571 and attach all completed IMM forms. CIC website: (choose language) On the top right hand corner of the screen: Check application status Select an application type: choose ‘Refugees’ category Hit the Check application status button Read the conditions and then check the box and click on the Continue button Select one of the Identification Types: Unique Client Identifier (UCI) number or Immigration File Number and fill in the data Type in the Family name of the principal applicant Select Date of Birth and Place (country) of Birth from the drop down menu Hit the Continue button Slide 12 of 22
