China’s Population Pyramid
3
Explanation and sample of script on slide 2 This slide topic is required. Population pyramid of your country. If you can not find one on your country use one of a country with similar characteristics. This fulfills 2 required pieces of information: 1. Population pyramid 2. Projected population: growth/decline/no growth SCRIPT This slide show the population characteristics of China in 2005 and projected characteristics in 2050. You can see that the population gets older by 2050 with approximately 110 million people over 80 with the majority female. This reflects China’s increase in wealth as people tend to live longer in wealthier countries.

Explanation and Script for slide 4 This slide topic is required showing the current total population and projected total population. SCRIPT: This slide shows China’s total population is about 1.4 billion people now and projected to grow to slightly until 2030 and then decline back to 1.4 billion people by 2050. This also reflects the increasing wealth of China’s as more developed countries tend to have static or declining populations. Note this graph also shows India passing China as the most populous country in the world by 2030 and increasing to 1.6 billion people by 2050!

China’s 1 Child Policy Poster
7
Explanation and Script for slide 6 This slide information is required. Does your country have and official or unofficial population policy? SCRIPT: In 1979 China introduced a policy requiring couples from China's ethnic Han majority to have only one child (the law has largely exempted ethnic minorities). It has remained virtually the same ever since. However as the population graphs from the previous slides showed China’s population is aging and government officals are re-examining this policy. Effects: This policy has slowed population growth but has also disrupted the ration of girls to boys as boys are favored in China’s culture and resulted in infanticide and a large number of female orphans. Instructions and Sample script for slides 8-10 This slide topic is required. What are the migration issues in your country. SAMPLE SCRIPT: As you can see in slide 8 from 1950 to 2010 China went from a rural country to amore urban one going from almost a 90% rural population to a 50%/50% rural/urban currently and projected to be 60% urban by 2030. The effects of this internal migration have been that most of the migrants are illiterate and are discriminated against. Most do not have official work papers and suffer from lack of housing, low pay, withheld pay, few benefits and poor working conditions. This is particularly hard on women since boys are favored many rural families send their daughters to work in the city and send money home.
