4 Banner Terms Pay ID - Payroll processing cycle type, examples include MN for monthly / exempts and SM for semimonthly / nonexempts Employee Class - Employee grouping that determines FT/PT, benefits/leave eligibility, FLSA type Position Class - Position grouping that determines title, pay grade/plan, employee class, FT/PT, FLSA type (i.e. job class) Crosswalk - Table used to match values between Banner and Legacy system (i.e. TecHRIS, TechFIM)

5 Banner Terms Position Number - Unique identifier of position; positions are maintained in the budget; all employees will be associated with a position number within either a single or pooled position Suffix - Extension of a position; makes a unique combination when combined with position number and employee; enables overload jobs Job - Combination of Employee plus Position and Suffix Encumbrance - Reservation of budgeted dollars for costs associated with a specific position or account. Once pay is expensed, the encumbrance is reduced or liquidated.
