Key Thought How you budget your time each day is based on a decision. If you do not make the decision then others will make it for you. Develop a system to get more accomplished and to gain more control.
3
Key Tools Calendar, Task List, and Project Planners. Calendar: Where I need to be. Task List: What I need to do today. Project Planner: How I accomplish large tasks.
4
Calendar Management Keys 1.Work from one calendar. 2.Determine your boundaries. 3.Place non-negotiables in BOLD. 4.In Autumn, place all vacation, holidays, special occasions on FY calendar. 5.If you travel, use color coding. 6.Look at it every day. 7.Look at it before making a commitment. 8.Don’t accept invitations without previewing.
5
Utilize Your Task List 1.Use horizontal planning (instead of vertical). 2.Preview tomorrow’s task list today. 3.Code the tasks: must do today, must do this week, or it can wait if I’m pressed. 4.Knock down the “quick & easies” first. 5.Revert to coded tasks in priority order. 6.Master plan monthly.
6
Create Project Planner for Large Multi-Step Tasks 1.Utilize the “elephant eating” principle. 2.Insert reminders on your task list. 3.Preview each month/week. 4.Give access to others.
7
