Calculations 1.Google Earth and Google Sketch-up 2.EE4 will be used to simulate the energy consumption and annual cost reductions, compared to a typical building of similar size 3.Hand calculations will be used to verify EE4 results Resistances of the walls and roof Pump and fan sizing Heating and cooling load
17
Assumptions 1.The indoor floor space is 3500ft 2 2.The capacity of the building is 150 persons 3.Design indoor temperature will be at extremes of psychometric chart 4.R-values 5.The building may be left unattended in the winter
18
EE4 Assumptions 1.Space function will be used to model the building 2.Building is modeled into 3 major zones 3.Roof is modeled at 45 o for simplification 4.System efficiencies assumed at a minimum of 75% 5.Heating system modeled as a 2 pipe fan coil 6.Natural gas will be used as a substitute for wood 7.R values are doubled and thicknesses are halved
19
Conclusion Current EE4 model yields: 1.30% reduction in electrical consumption 2.Approximately 60% reduction in natural gas consumption 3.Total of approximately 30% in energy cost savings
