2. Origin
The Orthodox branch of Christianity began when the Roman Empire split into two churches in 1054.
The split was a result of a rivalry between the Pope of Rome and the Patriarchy of Constantinople.
The diffusion of the Orthodox religion began in the eastern regions of the Roman Empire.

3. Beliefs
Orthodox Christians believe in the first seven sacraments, but reject later doctrines.
The Holy Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit).
The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
They believe in the sayings of the Holy Bible.
Christ died for the sins of humanity.

4. Structure Orthodox Christianity is a hierarchical structure.
There is no Pope, but there are Bishops who govern specific regions.
Below these Bishops, various clergy and priests administer specific churches.

5. Diffusion
Because of its wide influence on multiple cultures, Eastern Orthodox is a universal religion.
When the Catholic Church split in the 11th century, Orthodox began its diffusion in Eastern Europe.
Today, it has spread into Russia and some parts of Western Asia.

6. Distribution of Orthodox
Higher concentrations are represented by darker blue shades.

7. Places of Worship
Orthodox buildings in which worships are carried out are called cathedrals.
The cathedral shown is in Nice, Russia. 
The unique architecture with dome structures distinguishes the landscape.
