General Precautions Read all directions. Do not touch anything until told to do so NO FOOD OR DRINK Keep areas clean NO horseplay

Fire Safety Keep all things away from open flames and hot plates Keep heated materials pointed away from yourself and others Never look directly over a heated container Never reach across a flame

Fire Safety Use a Fire extinguisher on a Chemical fire P (pull the pin) A (Aim at the base of the fire) S (squeeze the handle) S (sweep the hose)

Fire Safety If a person is on fire STOP, DROP, and ROLL Use a fire blanket on a person to smother the fire Do not use a fire blanket on a chemical fire

Heating Materials Always keep the opening pointed away from people Use the back of your hand to see is something is hot Use a hot pad to pick up heated glass

Chemical Safety Do not mix chemicals unless told to Never look directly over the opening of a container To dispose of chemicals follow the instructions of the teacher Add acid to the base Rinse skin with water if a chemical is on you

Glass Safety Check for cracks before using Do not use broken glassware Alert the teacher if something is broken Do not clean up broken glass yourself Never drink from lab glassware Clean all glassware before you put it away
