Facility and Pool – Student Research Threats – Losing students to College Station – Losing students to competing maritime schools

4 F ACULTY Improve quality of professors and staff Dedication to students and their abilities to succeed in the classroom Professors that are strictly professors versus professors that are solely devoted to research- Classroom professors and field professors Math Department Professors reaching out to students more Increase in availability outside the classroom for student inquiries

5 S TUDENT R ECRUITMENT Publicity TAMUG ads in maritime research magazines and journals across the country Quality of Students Increase in quality of students admitted to TAMUG The Admission Process- Board should look at the “entire picture” when considering a student for admission, not just standardized test scores Student Ambassadors Expand Ambassador Program- students not only from Texas, but also out-of-state and international Expand regions of recruitment- have ambassadors go outside of Texas to promote TAMUG Domestic and International Students Increase in diversity of student body- sending students abroad to promote TAMUG Have students speak to their high schools over Winter Break about TAMUG

6 S TUDY G ROUPS AND T UTORING Study Groups Increase availability of classrooms in the evening to host study group meetings Increase diversity of study groups to include more subjects Tutors Improve reliability and quality of tutors- tutors must show up to every session and be knowledgeable in their field of aid Tutors should provide help in a wider selection of subjects

7 C ULTURAL S TUDIES Languages More variety of languages offered as credits Range of Classes Offered A culture-oriented class dealing with foreign policy, international business and research,

8 I NTERUNIVERSITY R ELATIONSHIPS Organizations Clubs from UTMB, Galveston College, and TAMUG coming together for a common purpose Internships Programs at UTMB allowing pre-med students to work in a hospital environment; Pre-Med Association involvement Programs involving Galveston College students interested in marine and maritime studies

9 C OMMUNITY O UTREACH Service Opportunities More campus-wide service events besides Big Event Increased involvement with government officials in Galveston area leading to possibly more funding for SGA Community Events More advertising and awareness
