To support pupils from vulnerable groups by focussing on family support so that pupils are effectively challenged and supported to successfully make “better than expected” progress in their learning.

The bid was for £28 000 Each school was given a guidance sheet on the possible financial commitments but it would be adapted as the project developed.

Initial group planning meetings Back to school discussions to clarify projects Group meetings to discuss ideas and identify collaborations/ school to school support available Discussion of how to measure impact/ development of questionnaires etc. Back to school to start projects Review meetings to share progress to date and impact identified (where appropriate)

Alexandra Juniors – Parental engagement across a range of targeted groups within the school Chatsworth – helping Polish parents support their children with Letters and Sounds Spring Grove - helping Polish parents support their children with Letters and Sounds Hounslow Town – Increasing engagement in reading in Year 5 (particularly ‘white other’ boys)

Isleworth Town- Increasing confidence and attainment in maths for girls Ivybridge – Developing relationships and increased engagement with the Afghan Community Smallberry Green – Family Learning Project - English Worple – Developing relationships and increased engagement with the Somali Community

Some schools have already been able to demonstrate good or better progress for pupils engaged in their projects The self-esteem and confidence of pupils engaged in projects has been increased Parental feedback has been very positive where parents remained engaged throughout a project including an increase in their own knowledge and confidence Staff confidence and understanding developed

Parents have asked for similar projects to include more children Some parents approached did not make the commitment to become or remain engaged in a project Producing quantifiable data to measure impact was a challenge for several of the projects

Cross school relationships have been established and used not just in support of these projects but as useful contacts and resources for other projects Shared resourcing when requested Knowledge of strengths and skills across the C8

Projects to reach their conclusion and impact measured where this has not already happened Debriefing meeting for all innovation projects Schools to decide if they would like to run projects already run in the group and sharing of resources Further collaboration between schools and the staff of the schools
