2 Warm-Up 8, 9-27-11  Figurative Language: Language enriched by word images and figures of speech.  First Person Narrative: Narration in which the point of view is that of the main character.  Flat Character: A character with only one outstanding trait or feature.

3 Warm-Up 9, 9-29-11  Focus: The center of interest or attention; in writing, the central idea.  Foreshadowing: The technique of giving clues to coming events in a narrative.  Genre: An established class or category of artistic composition or literature (Ex: poetry, drama, novel)

4 Warm-Up 10, 9-30-11  Inference: A general conclusion drawn from information that is given.  Hypothesize: To make an assertion about something assumed but not positively known.  Imagery: Words and phrases that create vivid sensory experiences for a reader.
