Warm-Up 8, 9-27-11 Figurative Language: Language enriched by word images and figures of speech. First Person Narrative: Narration in which the point of view is that of the main character. Flat Character: A character with only one outstanding trait or feature.

Warm-Up 9, 9-29-11 Focus: The center of interest or attention; in writing, the central idea. Foreshadowing: The technique of giving clues to coming events in a narrative. Genre: An established class or category of artistic composition or literature (Ex: poetry, drama, novel)

Warm-Up 10, 9-30-11 Inference: A general conclusion drawn from information that is given. Hypothesize: To make an assertion about something assumed but not positively known. Imagery: Words and phrases that create vivid sensory experiences for a reader.
