Career Cluster is group of careers that share common features The 16 Career Clusters Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources Architecture & Construction Arts, Audio/Video Technology & Communications Business, Management & Administration Education & Training Finance Government & Public Administration Health Science Hospitality & Tourism Human Services Information Technology Law, Public Safety, Corrections & Security Manufacturing Marketing, Sales & Service Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics Transportation, Distribution & Logistics

Career Pathways is a smaller group of jobs within a career cluster that use similar skills Each career cluster contains several career pathways You can start in a lower-level job in a career path and, with more education and experience, move up within that path

Here are a few examples of Career Paths: Example 1 "Patient Care" is a path within the "Health Science" career cluster Moving up could be viewed in this progression Home Health Aide → Nursing Assistant → Licensed Practical Nurse Example 2 "Administrative Support" is a path within the "Business, Management & Administration" career cluster Moving up could be viewed in this progression Receptionist → Office Clerk → Office Manager

Take Out Your Career Pathways Chart 1.On the back of the chart list at least three things under Interests, Aptitude and Strengths 2. With those responses in mind: A.Examine the six Career Pathways in the first column. B. Go to the next column and ask, “Is this career path for me”? C.Under Career Categories find two that fit you – again reflect on Interests, Aptitude and Strengths. D.Check to see if the Courses in school would fit your aptitude and strengths E.Finally select two careers and go to the back and record them in Career Objectives
