7 4-H Program Report  Embryology Program Started in January in Mecklenburg County schools for 2015 and will run until June  Starting Entrepreneurship Enrichment Course at Reid Park Elementary with Middle School Students  Preparing for Robotics Part II training with Park and Recreation Staff, 4-H Youth leader, and parent volunteer on February 17, 2015 @ Tom Sykes Recreation Center  2015 Planning

9 Items to Consider for Action A. 4-H 2015 Plan of Work (goals, activities, and ideas - brainstorm/feedback) B. 4-H at Extension Awareness Event (May 16th from 10 am – noon) C. 4-H Summer Fun (June-August) Who Killed Henry Ward? Summer Fun held at Iredell Extension Office with the following counties: Alexander, Catawba, Gaston, Iredell, Lincolnton, Mecklenburg, and Scotland. Residential Summer Camp @ BJP July 26-31, 2015. NCA&T will host another STEM Workshop D. Other Business?

10 Mecklenburg County 4-H 2015 Plan of Work Goals:  create year long county wide goals  focus on leadership  create static training schedule that can be seen as beneficial to as many people as possible  Have 8-12 large full county events  4-H staff will host 2 of those events at office including Fun Day  purpose is to increase visibility and availability of 4-H programs county wide  each club will host one of these event on their side of town  focus on STEM, Healthy Lifestyles and Environmental Education (using 4-H gardening, STEM, entrepreneurship, healthy living, and culinary resources)

11 Program and training goals for the year: All Mecklenburg County programs and Clubs will demonstrate and practice the following during 2015. We will supplement teaching these skills with various appropriate 4-H curriculum. i.e. enhance youth cultural awareness, exposure and community impact (community service, leadership, recycling, and save our planet) SMART Goals - setting attainable goals and achieving them Building resilience - teaching youth to seek positive encouragement, praise, attention, and to encourage themselves Increase visibility and support of community clubs: Help lead activities in each community club at least 2x a year Help community clubs host 4-H county wide activities 4-H Advisory Council Goals: have 6 meetings 2 meetings will be social, i.e. tour, workshop etc. to ensure all Advisory Council members have first hand knowledge of current programs. Volunteer goals: Offer static volunteer trainings i.e. bi-monthly Ideas for county wide event: (all events should reflect the larger county wide goals - SMART GOALS, fitness & nutrition, leadership, and building resilience) safety 1K (South Charlotte) various hikes/nature exploration walks
