3 Objectives and Focus 1. THz (0.1-10) imaging systems High performance large imaging arrays High performance large imaging arrays Based on sensitive multiplexable superconducting detectors (KIDs, TES), radiation coupled through a lens antenna quasi-optical system or micro-machined structures Semiconductor based low-cost and integrated imaging systems Semiconductor based low-cost and integrated imaging systems Using commercially available process technologies (CMOS/BICMOS); high power sources, low noise detectors 2. Spectroscopic systems Time domain spectroscopic systems Time domain spectroscopic systems Novel broadband antennas, detectors, emitters, improving overall system design Narrow-band spectroscopic systems Narrow-band spectroscopic systems Combining heterodyne detection techniques with commercially available sc technologies, compact, low cost detection systems (low THz range), materials/gasses/liquids 3. Nanoscopes Based on novel QCLs, sensitive detection techniques, metal nano tips. Imaging of semiconducting devices with nanometer resolution.
