Shows a family’s ancestors. Also called a lineage chart or pedigree chart. Copy the information from your birth certificate onto your pedigree chart. Make copies of important records and keep them with your family tree.

Interview living relatives. When interviewing, write your name, the name of the person being interviewed and the date and place where the interview is held.

What is your full name? When and where were you born? When and where were married? What are the names of your brothers and sisters? What are your parents’ full names? When and where were they married? Ask about favorite things and memories too. **Remember to get copies of documents if you can.
