7 Coaching for tests The LNAT is designed to test some of your intellectual abilities rather than how much you know about particular subjects. So how can you prepare? We think you should concentrate on exercising the relevant parts of your brain, and on familiarising yourself with the test format. We advise you to be sceptical about anyone's claims to be able to help you do well in the test by coaching. In our view there is nothing that anyone can do to help you get a high LNAT score that you cannot equally do for yourself, if you approach your preparation in a disciplined way.

8 General Studies lessons You can exercise the relevant parts of your brain very well by reading a quality newspaper every day, and thinking about the issues that are raised. How difficult would it be to reach the opposite conclusion from the same information? The other thing you can usefully do is practise. This has two objectives: the first is to familiarise yourself with the format of the LNAT and its questions; the second is to familiarise yourself with the kind of thinking that the LNAT requires.
