GOAL = improve overall “a-g” course submission and review process Major highlights: –Clarifying and revising the “a-g” subject area course criteria –Developing the new A-G Course Management Portal –Streamlining the course submission form to align with the “a-g” course criteria –Increasing “a-g” resources and Articulation staff.

UC Honors A-G Courses Major changes for school-created “a-g” honors courses Changes are effective starting with the 2015-16 academic year No changes to calculating the UC GPA No limits on school-created honors courses approved for a school’s “a-g” list School-created, college-preparatory elective (“g”) honors courses now eligible for UC honors

UC Honors A-G Courses UC honors courses must have a non-honors equivalent, but simultaneous offerings not required Allow 10 th grade courses to qualify for UC honors

Introducing the A-G CMP Newly designed A-G Course Management Portal (CMP) –Replacing Doorways Online Update website Inaugural system launched on February 1, 2015 Register now to set-up your personal account! REVIEW of “a-g” course submissions REPOSITORY of “a-g” courses RESOURCE for college- preparatory curriculum in California

User Registration & CMP Access Former system: registration by institution A-G CMP: registration by individual user –Personal user name & password –Individual account to track your own submissions –Direct access to “a-g” approved courses

Default Account Settings Basic UserAdministrator User All basic user features, plus: Prepare course submissions Submit courses to UC Save drafts of course submissions Update school demographic information View status of your course submissions Edit and archive your institution’s courses Search for approved courses from other institutions Manage permissions for your institution’s users Manage individual account settings

A-G Course Submission Timeline Submission cycle opens February 1 PHASE 1* February 1 to May 31 PHASE 2 June 1 to July 31 PHASE 3 August 1 to September 15 Submission cycle closes September 15 *Phase 1: 1 st resubmission due by July 31 2 nd resubmission due by September 15

New Course Submission Form Streamlined form –Basic course information –Course description –Course materials –Review course summary Form aligns with “a-g” course criteria & K-12 course design Same form for all subject areas

Editing Approved Courses Any changes to an approved course completed using “Edit” icon –Examples: Changing a course’s title Updating course materials Moving a course from one subject area to another Adding or removing the UC honors designation Course information will be pre-populated into form Edits made to a course still require a review by UC

Archiving Courses What is archiving? – Shelving an approved course that will not be offered for a given year or years Archived courses can be reinstated – Within 3 years do not require a full review – More than 3 years requires a full review View archived courses in Course Search

Demographic Information No longer required as a first step in a submission cycle – Update information at any time – But, it still needs to be done annually! Important to keep information accurate! – It’s how UC communicates with you.
