S YMBIOTIC R ELATIONSHIPS IN A COMMUNITY Mutualism is a relatioship in which two organisms live in a community and depend on each other. Both organisms benefit from the relationship. Example: termites living in a dead log, bacteria that lives in the human intestine

COMMENSALISM Is a relatioship in which two organisms live in a community, and one benefits while the other gets no benefit and is not harmed. Example: orchids plants and trees

P ARASITISM Is a relationship between two organisms in which one is helped and the other is harmed. The living thing on which the parasite lives is called the host.

P REDATION One organism benefits and the other is harmed. An animal that hunts,kills,and eats another animal is a predator. The predator kills the prey.
