2 The training needs of financial capability practitioners Research Report London Metropolitan University 2006 ‘There is a definite need to develop training for practitioners on how to deliver financial capability’ ‘This training should be developed between Level 2 and Level 4 on a progressive basis in line with other training requirements for the target group’ Most practitioners had not received any training in how to deliver financial capability to their learners. Over 50% felt that the current training offer was very limited.

7 Personal Finance for practitioners For Tutors and voluntary sector staff who want to improve their own level of personal finance knowledge in preparation for delivering to learners. Content Refresh and extend existing knowledge of commonly held financial products and apply selected financial planning techniques to problems. Be able to apply personal financial planning techniques to a range of situations. Length 16 hours - 4 hours self study pre course, 8 hours face to face, 4 hours self study post course Accredited courses Level 2

8 Introduction to delivering Financial Literacy For Workers in community organisations including housing associations, outreach centres and voluntary organisations working with clients in a non- teaching capacity but wish to be able to run short courses within their provision. Content Facilitation & environment, assessing levels of learning, teaching and learning methods, planning, resources. Length 2 ½ days Accredited courses Level 2

9 Delivering Literacy, Language and Numeracy in the Context of Finance For skills for life tutors / those with a teaching qualification Content Why finance is an important context. Understanding and using the Adult Financial Capability Framework to develop provision. Evaluating resources and using these to plan how to integrate financial literacy into literacy, language or numeracy programmes. Length L2 10 hours – 4 hours self study, 6 hours face to face training L3 30 hours – 12 hours self study, 18 hours face to face training Accredited courses Level 2 & 3
