Pyramid Veronika Horton March 10,2006 Algebra 2 Ms. Rainey

Picture Of Me and My Object “Pyramid”

Definition  A polyhedron in which the base is a polygon and the lateral faces are triangles with a common vertex.

Why I chose this Object  I chose this object because I wanted to be different. I wanted to try something new, considering everyone in the class chose the “cube”. I wanted to challenge myself by picking something that I didn’t know that much about.

Concept 1  Volume- The measure or size of a three-dimensional object or region of space independent of its shape.

Example of Concept 1 Volume V= 1/3Bh Where B= the base and h= the height V = (5cm x 5cm) x 3 cm Volume = 25 cm3

Concept 2  Surface of Area- A set of points forming the boundary of a geometric figure.

Example of Concept 2  Surface Area  S=B+1/2P l  Where B= the base, P= the perimeter, and l = the slant height

Concept 3  Pythagorean Theorem- A theorem stating the square of the length of the longest side of a right triangle is equal to the sum of the squares of the lengths of the other sides.

Example of Concept 3  Pythagorean Theorem  a^2+b^2=c^2 By Pythagoras' Theorem from right-triangle VOM, we have
