Rail Safety Advisory Committee FRA Emergency Order 28 and Safety Advisory 2013-06 issued by FRA August 2, 2103 following derailment in Quebec in July. August 29, 2013 Emergency Safety meeting of RSAC Voted to adopt four new task statements on: Hazmat Issues Train Securement Operational Testing for Train Securement Appropriate Train Crew Size Recommendation of working groups on new tasks will be presented by April 2014.

Section 130 Crossing Safety Funding Section 130 was one of few dedicated programs maintained in MAP-21. AASHTO-SCORT needs to continue to advocate for continuing the program in reauthorization. Since 1976 in NC, Section 130 funds have completed an average of 80 projects/year: funded crossing warning system installations and/or upgrades at 2,939 public crossings provided for closure of 144 public crossings Hamberger-Horsley Letter Continued collaboration with AAR, One Rail, ASLRRA, and S4PRC is needed.
