Take a Snowman Venn Diagram – 12 points! (2 points per empty space –must be complete & correct to earn credit) Turn in Boxed Questions (your HW) Over the next 2 days, look for AS MANY SCENARIOS AS YOU CAN where Newton’s 1 st and/or 2 nd Laws apply. Be ready to discuss them next class for an activity. FINISH today’s Math Practice problems. They will be posted on my website. We are playing a game using them next class. Ensure that the boxed questions are COMPLETELY DONE and CORRECTED. We are playing a game using them next class. Start preparing for test on Ch. 4-5-6… Dec. 17 th (A) & 18 th (B) Study Guides will be online by tomorrow; hard copies on Wed. Extra Credit opportunity – medicine drive for Dominican republic

#14-15 from MILLIONAIRE – we are going over them together. › Know how to do them? Review Boxed Questions w/group Groups review of Boxed HW questions Start tonight’s HW if time provides. › CHECK IN with a teacher if you need HELP or CLARIFICATION! Last 5 minutes of class are an exit slip! › #14 - A crate has a mass of 10kg. You personally pull with a force of 10N, but the force of friction is 4N. Suppose the crate is already moving at 1m/s. How fast will it be moving after you have pulled it for 10 seconds? › #15 - A 1000 gram toy car is moving at 1m/s, and eventually slows to 0.2 m/s in 4 seconds. If 5 N of friction act on the car, how much force is the car applying to make itself move?

#24 – see HW solution (we did this already) #25…No…you can only conclude that no NET force acts on it #27….as you burn fuel, you lose mass…less mass, more acceleration! #28…1N in the direction opposite to push #35…. Still 1 m/s2 #36….4 m/s2 #37…. 2x mass = ½ the acceleration….so 1.5 m/s #38…Net F = 0….Friction = 100 N opposite to push #39… ¾ the force means ¾ the acceleration… so 1.5 m/s2 CHALLENGE #1 – Mass = 2000 kg, weight is approx. 4400 pounds; 19,600 N CHALLENGE #2 – F = approx. 1818 N (first, solve for acc. Then, convert lb kg… Then, F = ma)
