1 Introducing

2 Early life  Born on June 29 th 1958 in Malegaon in Akola District of Maharashtra.  She was inspired by her father Dr V.U. Mane who was a dedicated and well known doctor, the first MBBS doctor of Washim Taluk, Maharashtra.

3 Education  Excelled in academics, sports and cultural activities.  District level KhoKho player.  In 1975 Sheela stepped into IGMC for MBBS

4 Marriage  In 1982 she got married to Dr. Dilip Kumar, an Orthopaedic surgeon in St Martha’s Hospital.

5 Career  In 1984 she completed her MD and moved to Bangalore.  In 1986, she joined Ambedkar Medical college where she spent the next 20 years, when she had the opportunity to work with Prof. Krishna Bai.

6 Workplace  In 2003 – Anugraha Nursing Home in which she is currently working as consultant. She is also consultant at Fortis Hospital, Vikram Hospital and Mahaveer Jain Hospital. She was involved in DNB teaching program at BJMH.

7 Into the BSOG family  She joined BSOG in 1998 as an EC member,  In 2002-03 she worked as secretary of BSOG to Dr. Pushpa Srinivas and Dr. Padmini Issac.  BSOG received the Best Society award- the Nadkarni Rotating Trophy during the tenure of Dr. Pushpa Srinivas and Dr. Sheela Mane.

8 BSOG journey  In 2005-06 she worked as President of BSOG Her theme was Adolescent Health- Meeting the challenges of Transition.  BSOG was awarded the DK Tank Trophy for Best Social activities.

9 Reached FOGSI  Vice President of Family Planning Association of India and Karnataka Cancer Society.  She was chairperson of Safe Motherhood Committee of FOGSI 2008-2011. Her work was awarded the Mehru Hansotia Best Committee Award for her work.  EMOC workshops were conducted all over the Country.

12 PPH – Stop every drop! As Vice President FOGSI- South Zone 2014, Dr. Sheela spread the message about preventing PPH in every nook and corner of the country. She has conducted 23 PPH workshops during her year. The EMOC kit prepared by BSOG & introduced to FOGSI and FIGO. It was acknowledged by Dr Andre from Canada, Dr. Gamal Sarur then FIGO president at MGM Mumbai.

15 Helping Mothers Survive  She worked along with the Bangalore team and Dr. Hema Divakar in 2013 for HMS program.

16 Conferences are her cup of tea!  Organizing secretary for AICOG 2003

17 More conferences…  National, International and state level conferences like YUVA FOGSI, DAKSHIN, ICEO, ISOPARB to name a few.
