A Learning Environment Exemplified My science professor shows enthusiasm for the material he teaches. He uses power point presentations to complement his lectures. He engages all students by asking for volunteers and/or calling on names to explain an example. He creates labs where we are working in groups and projects where our work is individual. He respects each student and his main concern is our success.

InTASC Standard # 4 Content Knowledge Understands key concepts of material Integrates experiences to achieve learner understanding Utilizes resources and technology Evaluates and modifies curriculum accordingly Links new knowledge to prior knowledge

Content Knowledge Exemplified I have a professor who uses different computer programs and websites to teach us the main idea of her lecture. She constantly ensures that her students are understanding what she is teaching before moving on to the next idea. She incorporates small group and class discussions.

InTASC Standard # 5 Application of Content Facilitates creative thinking processes to promote new ideas Uses real world issues Incorporates knowledge from multiple subject areas Allows learners to develop their own ideas and express them

Application of Content Exemplified Both of my education instructors challenge their students and encourage critical thinking. We create projects and papers using a variety of methods to convey our ideas. Our projects and papers are based on real life situations and philosophies of how we are going to use our newly learned knowledge and build on it.

InTASC Standard # 8 Instructional Strategies Uses a variety of instructional methods Understands different learning styles and implements them Monitors learners and adjusts teaching style Utilizes technology Facilitates critical thinking

Instructional Strategies Exemplified My online professor uses a variety of tools to convey her lectures in an effort to teach diverse learners. She utilizes many different computer programs in her lecture, such as websites, power points, and word documents. Sometimes our lecture is an audio lecture. She allows us to create our own projects and papers giving us critical thinking questions and always provides feedback for future use.

These standards are reflected in the culture of our learning environment. Teachers are dedicated to the academic success of their students. Teachers are knowledgeable and strive to teach the material in a way that is understandable to all students. Teachers are respectful to colleagues, administration, and students. The school celebrates achievements, whether academic, artistic, or athletic. The school respects the cultural diversity of its members.
