What are we Talking about… O Early Learning Standards- Expectations for the learning and development of young children O Content Standards- Description of what children should know and be able to do related to a particular content area O Performance Standard- level of performance of the knowledge or skill in relationship to a Benchmark O Benchmarks- Specific description of the knowledge or skill a child should acquire at a certain point. Usually tied to an age or grade level O Program Standards- Expectations for the quality of schools and educational settings

The “Star” Teacher 1. In groups of 4 identify six skills of a Quality Teacher. 2. Write one skills per body part using the following questions as guides. O What kind of teacher do students need? O What are the characteristics of that teacher who is going to promote increased student achievement for all students? O What are the skills necessary to be a successful teacher in the 21 st Century? 3. Be prepared to report out.
