From Pencil to Pixel Pixel –The information stored for a single grid point in the image. –"Pixel" stands for Picture Element. It is the smallest part of every image you see on the monitor.

. If you blow up a picture, you can get an idea of how the separate pixels work together to create a picture. Each square is the equivalent of a pixel when it is shrunk back down to normal size.

Create your own pixel art design! Create a work of art on a grid that mimics how computers use pixels to create an image Illustrate your name and something about you (hobby, sport etc.) or just a geometric design using pixels Draw in pencil first, after teacher approval add color! REMEMBER, only one color per pixel! Neatness counts, computer art is not sloppy!

To Begin Think of the graph paper as a computer screen Put your name in first. The letters can be thick or thin, but need to be at least on block wide Next work or weave in a design around and behind your name-use the whole space Finish by adding color

HELPFUL HINTS Color in the squares that outline your object first, then color in the center! Keep your shapes, designs or objects simple! Choose a basic design, after you color it in, add more detail and more objects
