Verb Tense A verbs tense helps tell when things happen. Present-tense verbs tell what is happening now!

Find the present-tense verb in each sentence! 1.The car stops in the street. 2.That dog barked at me. 3.More cars wait in line. 4.She made a cake. 5.Dave watches me cook.

Confusing verbs “lie” means to recline “lie” means to recline “lay” means to put somewhere Ex. Please lie down on the couch. Lay that book on the shelf. Lay that book on the shelf.

“sit” means to be seated “set” means to put down Ex. The student had to sit in her seat. Carla set the paper on the table. Carla set the paper on the table. Confusing verbs

“rise” means to get up “raise” means to lift up Ex. The sun will rise in the morning. Will you raise your hand?
