1. TITLE ONE PLAN 2012-2013 Forts Pond Elementary School A Title One School Title One Plan

2. PURPOSE OF TITLE ONE  Title I provides financial assistance to local educational agencies and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low income families to help ensure all children meet challenging state academic standards.

3. BE INVOLVED  The No Child Left Behind Act mandates specific activities by the districts and schools to involve parents in the educational process of their children. As parents you play a vital role in the education of your children.  You are entitled to receive information about the curriculum, qualifications of teachers and paraprofessionals and the academic progress of your children.  You will receive pamphlets for Parents Right to Know and Family-School Compact for Achievement.

4. TITLE ONE PLAN: REFORM STRATEGY 1  Employ 2 intervention assistants and 1.5 interventionists to provide academic assistance in ELA and math to students  Provide a STEM teacher to serve grades 2-5 during related arts rotation  Implement eSpark for personalized learning

5. TITLE ONE PLAN: REFORM STRATEGY 2  Provide instructional materials to support balanced literacy.  Provide summer reading packs.  Provide every student with a Leadership Notebook

6. TITLE ONE PLAN: REFORM STRATEGY 3  Employ a Math Coach to model lessons, observe lessons, provide feedback, etc…  Employ a.5 technology instructional coach to conduct professional development for teachers and teach model lessons  Provide transportation for students in the 21 Century After School Program focusing on interventions.

7. TITLE ONE PLAN: REFORM STRATEGY 3  Provide training and support in the use of Fast ForWord  Purchase poster maker supplies to continue work with Leader in Me  Employ certified teacher to work after school to provide interventions to students

8. TITLE ONE PLAN: REFORM STRATEGY 3  Purchase Fast ForWord site license for intervention  Provide portion of benefits and salary of after school coordinator

9. TITLE ONE PLAN: REFORM STRATEGY 4  All of the teachers at FPES are Highly Qualified.

10. TITLE ONE PLAN: REFORM STRATEGY 5  Provide professional development to support school wide initiatives in the following areas: SC Title One Conference and Leader in Me  Work with a national literacy consultant to address instructional needs in reading and writing  Provide substitutes on the days consultants are working with teachers

11. TITLE ONE PLAN: REFORM STRATEGY 6  Lexington One hires highly qualified teachers  Funds for this strategy are provided through the district.

12. TITLE ONE PLAN: REFORM STRATEGY 7  Parent workshops including All Pro Dads  Literacy celebration at the end of the year.  5 th grade parent involvement celebration.  Provide parent-school communications folders, notebooks and agendas.

13. TITLE ONE PLAN: REFORM STRATEGY 8  Serve identified rising kindergarten students through Countdown to Kindergarten

14. TITLE ONE PLAN: REFORM STRATEGY 9  Professional development in Decision Making for Results  Hold data analysis meetings three times a year with each grade level

15. TITLE ONE PLAN: REFORM STRATEGY 10  Provide instructional materials to support Every Day Math program  Integrate technology into classroom instruction with the use of technology materials.  Provide instructional materials to support interventions  Employ 2 para pros to provide academic assistance to grade 1

16. TITLE ONE PLAN: REFORM STRATEGY 11  Encourage excellent student behavior by participating in Positive Behavior Intervention and Support. Incentives will be instructional in nature.
