Why is health important in elementary curriculum? Students are more active and participative in the learning process Students are more confident Students won’t get sick causing them to avoid classes Students doesn’t have to worry about medications Students are healthy enough to play around with other kids in the school Students develops interpersonal relationship since they are more active

What is health and wellness? Merriam-Webster Incorporated. (2012) defines health as the body’s condition in general. Accoridng to Hugh (1989- 2010), we cannot really identify who is healthy and who is not. As for the The McKinley Health Center (2011), the capability of a person to maximize his or her potential is called “wellness”.

Through health and physical education, students will develop: Their personal ideas about the positive effect of being physically fit to the body and mind and how to be one The will to stay committed to workouts and diet plans they will devise to stay healthy Necessary activities to keep their body healthy and fit throughout their lifetime without causing any strains on their body

Services and practices available to students in NC The Department of Health and Human Services of North Carolina provides: - Assistance in Mental Health - Assistance in Substance Abuse - Assistance in Public Health - Accepts Medicaid

Services and practices available to students in NC Disabled students have the rights to: Services for children Job Health service Right to live on their own Government funds Their own rights

Social benefits of an educated, health-aware population Students’ life is better The population is healthier The students have no medical conditions Health challenges are minimized

Benefits of a healthy lifestyle No worries about health issues No immediate cause of deaths like hypertension or attacks in the neither heart nor illness that kills without warning Makes individual emotionally and mentally stable No worries about medical bill since everyone is disease free
