A chronic disease is one that is either continuously or off and on over a long period of time. Example: Asthma

Some diseases cause a further breakdown of body cells and tissues, or to degenerate. These are called degenerative diseases. Example- multiple sclerosis (MS) Arthritis

Can be from birth defects, or genetic disorders. This can be caused by x rays, use of alcohol or drugs, lifestyle choices
