1 Science The ancient Egyptians were most interested in math and science it was there main skill They weren’t like most people they didn’t map makes to study the world, but instead they used it to improve there daily lives for trade and etc. The Ancient Egyptians had a basic understanding of Arithmetic's. They also could add, subtract, divide, and do geometry. The Egyptians were very skilled engineers they made things as complex as the Pyramids. They were even skilled doctors, they had many break throughs in medicine used for healing, mummifying etc. They even studied the human body. They could even remove tumors with surgery.

2 Arts & Writing Writing was hieroglyphic –words as pictures Two types of hieroglyphic (hieratic and demotic) They wrote on papyrus The Rosetta stone is a long series of passages The Rosetta stone was written in three different languages: hieroglyphic, demotic, and ancient Greek Egyptians made huge statues like the Great Sphinx »Chardonnay, Elise, Jessica, and Jerome

3 Religion in Ancient Egypt By Dan Kim, Matt Morgan, Dayane Smith, and Sabrina Thompson -Egyptians worship many gods and they believed that gods controlled all natural events. -Although the Egyptians worshipped hundreds of gods and goddesses, a few were central to their religion. -Other important Egyptian gods included Hathor, the cow- headed goddess of love and Thoth, the god of wisdom. -Many temples also featured obelisks with tall thin pillars with pyramid-shaped tops. -Anubis, the protector of the dead was also worshipped in Egypt. -Caring for the gods was the responsibility of the priests. -Re = Sun God -Osiris=Patron of Underworld and Agriculture

4 Home and Family Life: –Pharaoh often married their sisters –Noble families often lived in huge palaces –Most Egyptians married one wife –Royalty had more than one wife –Poor families lived in tiny huts

5 Social Structure –Royal family, pharaoh, government officials, priests, military leaders, land owners, and doctors –Artisans, Craftspeople, merchants- made and sold the goods –90% of the population- farmers –Slaves: POW’s and Criminals

6 Women and Children: –Women’s duty: take care of home and family. –Women had rights: cam have properties, can be priests, can divorce. –Children: Boys- educated to trade Girls- learned about household Played with toys and pets

7 Appearances and customs -Egyptians cared about their appearances. - upper class shaved their heads and wore wigs. Also wore perfumes and make up (Dark eye liners). - Egyptian clothing: made of wool and linens. -men: short loin cloths wrapped around their waist. -children: no cloths until they became adults. -sports: wrestling, javelin throwing, boating, haunting. Also board games were popular.
