1 Business studies js3 wk 4 Communication This is the transferring of messages from the sender to the receiver, who understands it. Or the process of sending and receiving information between two or more people.

2 Importance/roles of communication It facilitates commercial activities among people all over the world It makes settlement of business debts easy It reduces the cost and risk of travelling It makes mail-order business possible It enhances product advertisement

3 Methods/forms of communication Oral communication: This is also known as verbal communication which involves the use of spoken words to pass messages. It could be face-to-face, telephone, etc. Written communication: It is the use of handwritten or typed messages to pass information. Examples are letters, reports etc Visual communication: It is the use of diagrams, chart etc to pass across information

6 NIPOST(Nigeria Postal services) This was established in 1856, and it offers the following communication services: Accepts and delivers ordinary letters once appropriate stamp has been affixed. It handles express mail/letters i.e. letters that require urgent delivery. Provides letter boxes and mail bags (i.e. P. O. Box and PMB) to individuals and firms where letters/ mails are sorted and kept under lock for their officials

7 Offers Business Reply Services Provides recorded delivery It offers registered mail services It provides post restante services It offers payment services such as postal order, money order etc

8 NITEL: Nigeria Telecommunication Limited Established in 1985. Though NITEL is already being privatized and will soon be out of existence. It provides the following services: Local calls: These are calls made within the same locality or town Trunk calls: These are calls between states e.g. Lagos and Kano or Bayelsa and Ota International calls Telex services

9 Telegram Satellite service Telephone directory services.
