2. Birth-1484 Las Casas was born on November 11, 1484 in Seville Spain. There is some debate that he was born in 1474, but in 1970 scholars proved that his real birth was in 1484. Columbus came back from The New World, which at the time was thought to be the “Indies”. They were on the expedition of Nicolas de Ovando, and during their time there they witnessed the harsh treatment of the Taínos.
