2. There are 40 key terms that will show up in the exam. Today we will enhance our vocabulary study by participating in a Japanese 'karuta' game.

5. Karuta is just a simple matching game. All of the words we will use will be spread out on a table. When I read a definition, all of the players search for that word and try to grab the card before anyone else. You may start grabbing as soon as I start reading, but if you grab the wrong card, you will get a one point penalty as well as a one round penalty. To get to match 2, you can’t be in last place. To get to match 3, you can’t be in last place. To get to match 4, you can’t be in the last two places.
