iDeaWORKS is a Mohawk College initiative linking innovation, entrepreneurship and applied research Innovation—Focuses on improving productivity, efficiency, and value creation in the service sector. Entrepreneurship—Encourages entrepreneurs- in-the-making through The Hatchery, a pre-incubator that provides guidance, facilities and seed money for student business ventures. Applied Research – Faculty and students work with businesses and other community partners in finding innovative solutions real-world challenges. Partners benefit from our expertise, technology and facilities; students learn practical skills and build relationships with future employers.

Our success in health informatics demonstrated our leadership in software technology In 2007, Mohawk launches the Applied Research Centre in Health Informatics (MARC-HI) MARC-HI becomes the home for Canada’s EHR System reference implementation In 2010, MARC-HI wins the prestigious Canada Health Infoway Standards Collaborative Peer Award Mohawk’s centre is used as a model for health informatics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa Mohawk’s iDeaWORKS gears up for an mHealth project to build a working protoype of an SMS-based interface to jurisdictional infrastructure Mohawk wins $2.5M grant to implement an architecture to integrate electronic health records across Canada
