RSC modeRSC mode –When call is released, MS or BS can initiate the RSC mode through Release Order, ERM, ERRM. –If MS and BS agree to operate in RSC mode, they start to operate with Reduced Slot Cycle Index (RSCI) for a predefined time (RSC_END_TIME). – If the RSC timer expires, MS and BS returns to regular slotted mode, in which MS and BS operates, in the normal Slot Cycle Index (SCI)

SAMSUNG Proprietary Confidential Benefits of ERSC mode Reduced Paging DelayReduced Paging Delay –The paging delay is reduced because ERSC always starts to operate based on call arrival characteristics, the call arrival characteristics is reflected operation time t. –If call arrival rate is low, large value of t is used. –If call arrival rate is high, small value of t is used. –Ex If call arrival rate is given as A, the pdf of call inter-arrival time is given as A*exp(-At). Then, t can be determined as the function of A such that t=f(A). Increased Battery LifeIncreased Battery Life –When the same amount of energy is used for RSC and ERSC mode, the gradual increase of channel monitoring frequency extends the extended operation time of ERSC mode, which eventually increase the battery life of the MS.
