Unit Summary Students/participants will be engaged in extending their learning about the 1960s, especially the history and culture of the period and the relationships among history, politics, culture, and people. The students/participants will engage in extending their learning about the time by reading, viewing, and hearing from primary sources from those times.

Curriculum- Framing Questions Essential Question How does the past affect our future? Unit Questions Which events from the 1960s have influenced us? Why is it important to study the ’60s?

Curriculum-Framing Questions Content Questions: Name some important events from the 1960s. What was the popular music of the ’60s? What was the major war of the era? What important people were assassinated? What was the political climate of the decade? Who were major artists of the time? What were major political events of the ’60s? …..more will be added

This project will help my students develop 21 st century skills by: Creativity and innovation creating their final product Critical Thinking and Problem Solving research of primary sources Communication and Collaboration through wikis, journal reflections, collaboration with peers, community members, and experts in the global community

My Goals for the Course Facilitate learning by providing guidance and resources Provide tools for reflection and collaboration Assist students in becoming experts about their topic Foster PBL and provide authentic tasks Provide instruction about Web 2.0 tools (Ex. Google ® docs, wikis, Intel® visual tanking tool)

Goals for my Students Identify, locate, and use primary source materials to examine multiple perspectives on selected topics about the 1960s Access and use primary source materials to develop knowledge, skills, and analytical abilities Engage with one another to ask probing questions, think critically, develop reasonable explanations and interpretations of events and issues of the 1960s Use Web 2.0 and other tools to communicate and collaborate with peers and others in the global community Connect learning to real-life experiences.
