Origin Extrusive rock – formed from lava that erupted onto Earth’s surface (Basalt) Intrusive rock – Magma hardened beneath earth’s surface (granite)

Texture Fine-grained – Extrusive, rapidly cooling (Rhyolite) Coarse-grained – Intrusive (Granite) No grains – Obsidian or volcanic glass
